When I Am Gone

When I Am Gone
By Kira A. Moore

Silence surrounds me,
The dust of a lifetime
Settles across my shoulders,
Thick in the still air.

My pen hovers over paper,
Pure white and waiting,
For emotions flowing,
From this shattered heart.

Promises spoken and forgotten,
Heated whispers turned cold,
I remember them all,
Will you when I am gone?
