Walking Down Memory Lane

Not sure why but I felt a need to visit the past and listen to some of the music I loved when I was in high school. Maybe this is dating myself, but here is a playlist of some of my favorite songs.

In no particular order…

1) Open Arms by Journey

2) Your The Inspiration by Chicago

3) Making Love Out Of Nothing At All by Air Supply

4) Wicked Game by Chris Isaak

5) True Colors by Cyndi Lauper

6) She’s Waiting by Eric Clapton

7) The Chain by Fleetwood Mac

8) Words Get In The Way by Gloria Estefan

9) The Break Up Song (They Don’t Write ‘Em) by The Greg Kihn Band

10) We Belong by Pat Benatar

  1. high school, even though I hated being a k-12 student it was a time of no worries. I wasn’t going there to do tough labor like my gas station job. It was filled with lots of laughter and numerous trips. I don’t know if you will believe this but with the Air Force JROTC program I was off campus at least 35+days a year. Was tons of fun that hasn’t occurred in 5+ years. In high school I never encountered gender issues yet and deep depressions phase never existed per say’ during that time. I was a somebody then. You should have seen how decked out my uniform was as a top cadet. Now I am a regular azz person haha. Now I am in the middle of becoming a new person. I don’t blame you for memory lane as not all of the past is evil. Good times…

    1. High school wasn’t the best of times in many ways, but I love the music of the 80s. It was the one thing which brought happiness into my life and I will always remember it fondly.

I had gender issues, though I didn’t understand it at the time. I also was fighting with suicidal depression and drug and alcohol issues. I’m just glad I made it through it all fairly intact. Thing sure could have turned out much worse.

      1. all part of the adventure. When you go through a roller coaster in life; there is always more colorful stories to tell in the future of how the past made you stronger.

  2. Sometimes I associate songs with bad events or people in my life. A few times I have decided to RECLAIM those songs and either make new associations with them, or just erase the old ones and say “This song is MINE from now on!”

  3. Kira, my taste for music runs a little harder, but I remember everything on the playlist you provided. I like some of the other commenters feel you don’t need a reason to visit the way back machine, Only the desire. Take care, have a good day — Bill
