Calif. attorney files for ballot initiative seeking to have all gays executed – LGBTQ Nation:

“HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — An Orange County, Calif., attorney has filed a proposed ballot measure with the California Attorney General’s office asking voters to criminalize homosexuality in the state and impose a death penalty sentence.

The filing, submitted along with the required fee of $200, will allow attorney Matthew G. McLaughlin to begin the process of collecting the approximately 365,000 signatures needed to put the measure before California voters on an upcoming ballot, reports Raw Story.

The proposed ‘Sodomite Suppression Act’ was filed by McLaughlin and received by the initiative coordinator at the Office of the Attorney General on Feb. 26, according to documents on file with the AG’s office.”

  1. The chances that this would make the ballot out here are minuscule. The chances that it would pass even if it made the ballot are even smaller. It sounds like he’s a looney tune.

  2. Oops! I looked at the article again, and I was reminded that such a law, if by some snowball’s chance in hell were passed, would be completely unconstitutional.

    1. Please don’t judge California by Orange County. Speaking as someone who has to sojourn there daily, It’s always silly season there.

  3. While the fact that this is an ultra-minority extremist view is comforting … it’s still disturbing that these people exist. The fact that this is likely to get even some votes is an example of why so many of us still occasionally feel unsafe. I’d argue that the bill itself constitutes hate speech.
