Springfield voters repeal protections for gay, transgender people | Local – KY3.com:

“The vote was close but Springfield voters on Tuesday rejected an anti-discrimination ordinance meant to protect gay men, lesbian women, and transgender people.   The Springfield City Council added those protections to the city’s broader anti-discrimination ordinance last October.”

  1. Which Springfield was this? Missouri? I know it wasn’t Massachusetts as that state has statewide LGBT non-discrimination laws. In any case, a city I am not visiting anytime soon. This whole transgender in the bathroom foolishness has caused a lot of grief. It is an hysteria created out of a series of calculated lies by the religious right. It just makes me so furious that this Nazi-style vilification is embraced in 2015!

    1. Missouri, yes. I agree with being foolishness, but very dangerous foolishness. The sad truth is many of these people have a need for irrational hatred and they are running out of targets. It use to be religion, then race, then sexuality, and now it’s gender. After this, they will find something else, but not until they have wreaked a lot of damage and ruined too many lives.

  2. I suppose it is something to be grateful for that at least the vote was close. I would imagine Missouri is a pretty conservative state, in which case it is mildly encouraging that at least there wasn’t a landslide result in favour of discrimination…

  3. That’s too bad. Scary to think that one lives in a place where there is this sort of hatred toward others for no reason whatsoever.
