Rachel Dolezal, Caitlyn Jenner Comparison Rejected By Transgender Women Of Color, LGBT Activists

Rachel Dolezal, Caitlyn Jenner Comparison Rejected By Transgender Women Of Color, LGBT Activists:

“TV personality Caitlyn Jenner and Africana studies professor Rachel Dolezal are both women, but the comparisons between their stories and experiences should end there, say LGBT activists. Transgender women of color, in particular, have taken offense at people who have conflated in recent days the experiences of a transgender woman and a woman who is allegedly impersonating a person of color.”

  1. I don’t get this Doleful woman. It’s possible she’s doing what she’s doing out of a real commitment to social justice, but it seems more like she just wants to make herself into some kind of victim.

    1. And I just noticed that autocorrect “fixed” my spelling of Dolezal’s last name. Although I guess she could be considered kind of doleful. If you squint just right.

  2. Invalid though the comparison may be, I expect the conservative and radfem critics to make a meal out of this story. I only hope this won’t lead to a backtracking on the positive steps recently taken (Leelah’s Law, and so forth).

    1. I don’t believe it will. I do see a larger conversation arising out of this, much like we saw with nature vs. nurture, what is biological, what societal constructs, what makes a human… human.
