What alarmist articles about transgender children get wrong.

What alarmist articles about transgender children get wrong.:

“Should a boy who grows out his hair, likes to wear pink, and prefers to jump rope at recess rather than play football be raised as a girl instead of a boy? Several recent pieces in prominent media outlets would have us believe that this is a major issue in North America.”

  1. And that’s the problem with this therapist citing those flawed studies in the name of science:

He wants to ask questions, but he’s making the same mistake these researchers did of confusing gender exploration/nonconformity and gender identity. Guidelines often recommend social transition first anyways, and alarmists are assuming transition is all-or-nothing. I hope that prominent researchers start looking more critically at what the data actually suggests.

    1. Another problem is many of those making questionable claims is their tendency to ignore, twist, and deliberately misquote information in order to maintain their bigotry.

  2. The other problem is the non-binary erasure in these discussions. As more and more teens and people in their twenties come out as having a non-binary gender identity researchers are going to be forced to play catch up in integrating these youth into the discussion.
