I Wait

I wait.

Velvet draped across my eyes as rain gently kisses my skin. Countless heartbeats fade from memory to fable, promises made then forgotten.

I wait.

Her footsteps hidden by the wind which gently stirs my mind to other vigils, those chances which caressed my soul only to leave me longing for just one more touch.

I wait.

Her presence, a pressure of anticipation. My breath staggering within my tightening chest.

I wait.

Knowing she comes near, longing for her final touch.
