Indiana mother cites ‘religious freedom’ law as defense for abusing her son / LGBTQ Nation:

“Indiana mother Kin Park Thaing may get away with severely beating her son with a coat hanger after she cited the state’s new ‘religious freedom’ law as justification for the abuse. The law says the government may not infringe on a person’s religious liberty without a compelling interest.”

  1. “36 separate bruises on the boy, including ones in the distinctive shape of a clothes hanger’s hook.” I am a clinical social worker. This is heartbreaking for the child.

  2. I can’t just click on “like” and move on by. Like our mutual friend, Cindy, I also work professionally with situations like this. As a Nurse Practitioner I worked and was the clinical preceptor for NP students from UCLA in the second busiest ER in LA County with the highest census of child abuse. This wounds a child for life and I see that from you wrote to Cindy this is your experience as well. My heart is with you and every child impacted, no matter the reason. But to reject someone because of who they are is a horrible hate crime in addition to the illegal battery.
