8-year-old transgender boy barred from Cub Scouts

8-year-old transgender boy barred from Cub Scouts:

“From the moment he joined, 8-year-old Joe Maldonado eagerly looked forward to camping trips and science projects as a member of the Cub Scouts. But his expectations were dashed after his mother said she received a phone call from a Scouting official who told her that Joe would no longer be allowed to participate because he was born a girl.”

    1. Because girls are only allowed to participate in the family program, not as a member of a troop.
The sad part is, unless they know this boy or his family personally, they wouldn’t think to question his gender or his right to be in the troop.

I suppose that’s what’s so difficult to understand from our perspective – whether in the past or in the present – maybe in the future.

I participated in both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts through 9th Grade (til 1971). My parents raised me as a ‘boy’ without those ‘male dangley bits’ to prove it. Not once did anyone demand for my sex test or peek into my undies. If they did, then maybe they would have tossed me out, too.

  1. What a crock of ….!!! I’m sick & tired of all the small minds & hearts on this planet.
SIGH!!! Nonetheless, ⭐ Happy New Year, Kira! ⭐ I hope this year is very special for you. You are beautiful! ❤

    1. I am already tired of the constant flow of disheartening news I see on social media, from LGBT issues to politics to watching the planet coming undone at the seams.
Yet I have enough hope to wish you a Happy New Year filled with joy and wonderful memories ❤
