Today was okay…
Been a long weekend and I’m ready to call it a night.
Sleep over tonight, four young boys with lots of energy and imagination. 😳
It’s been a cold, windy day. Perfect for staying in with something (or someone) warm.
Today was not a good day…
“‘I would be dead, to be totally honest.’”
“In just two weeks, Virginians will go to the polls to elect new representatives statewide and in the House of Delegates. For most people outside of the state, this election hasn’t been a top focus — especially given the multitude of Trump administration horrors that distract the country every day.
But I would argue that LGBTQ people and our allies across the nation should be paying very close attention to Virginia. We have an opportunity to take a historic step forward in our community’s political representation. If elected, Danica Roem, who is the Democratic candidate for a Virginia House of Delegates seat, would become the first openly trans person to be elected and seated as a state legislator.
This matters tremendously — for a few reasons.”
“’50 KIDS A WEEK SENT TO SEX CHANGE CLINICS’ screams today’s Daily Mirror’s front page headline. It seems designed to prompt concern.
The term ‘sex change’ doesn’t appear anywhere in the supporting article, instead being a fairly measured piece about growing acceptance meaning more demand, and also recognizing that some of the children referred to the Tavistock and Portman clinic may not be trans.
The only negative part in the piece is someone who seems to have self-medicated now regrets it, and has, as a result, decided that children can’t possibly know they’re trans. As a medic, she ought to be aware of the flaws of extrapolating from anecdotal evidence.
But the headline sets the tone – and is what will be read by most people. They won’t read the underlying story, and are likely to go away muttering about the decay of British society”
“The short, created by transgender filmmaker Jake Graf, is called Headspace, and deals with a range of trans struggles.
Writer and director Graf already has a rapidly growing list of films – including award-winning short ‘Brace’, another trans-focused story starring trans actors.
Headspace is described by Graf as ‘a rare and intimate glimpse into the trials and tribulations faced by trans folk on a daily basis.’
And it does just this, highlighting how normal, everyday activities for cisgender folks can be painfully difficult for transgender people.”
“Otome Juku translates to ‘Maiden School,’ but the primary purpose of the organization is to ASSIST people born physically as males acquire the mannerisms and aura of a woman. The school was founded by Satsuki Nishihara, a transgender media personality, and offers instruction on a number of specialized topics.”
