Ohio legislature to see bills critics say are anti-transgender

Under Ohio House Bill 61 and Senate Bill 132, the athletes would have to play on boys’ and men’s teams, even if they no longer identify with that gender and have medically transitioned.

The Center for Christian Virtue, a conservative traditional family organization formerly known as Citizens for Community Values – which is behind HB 61 and HB 132 – is working on legislation that would ban minors from receiving hormone therapy, puberty blockers and surgeries for the purpose of gender transition – even if their parents and physicians support the child’s transition.
