Resisting Right-Wing Christian Co-optation: How I Responded as a Detrans Woman When Conservative Christians Misused My Work

I decided to share this post from my old blog because I want people to see an example of a detransitioned person resisting co-optation by right-wing Christians and talking about how their interests are aligned with those of trans people. I want to point out that I published this almost a year before Ryan T Anderson published his anti-trans book When Harry Became Sally, where he used my story and quotes from my writing without consulting with me first (or with the other detrans women whose stories he used). So by the time his book came out, I had already publicly stated that I opposed my work and story being used by conservative Christians such as himself to push transphobia and a larger right-wing political agenda. I made it clear that I found such actions harmful and deeply violating.
