SF Transgender District to skip city-sponsored Pride events

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – The San Francisco Transgender District is pulling out of LGBTQ Pride events that are sponsored by the city as a response to Mayor London Breed’s decision to skip this year’s Pride parade on Market Street.

This includes the annual raising of the pride flag at City Hall, which kicks off the month’s festivities.

“The mayor’s decision – her seat of power, and her role and leadership in one of the most progressive cities in the world creates a domino effect,” Aria Sa’id, the district’s president, stated on Facebook. “Her seat can in fact choose when to support trans and queer people based on unspoken conditions – when in fact, our reality as trans people is we are fighting for a world in which we have cisgender people’s allyship WITHOUT conditions.”

The district said it would reconsider if Breed reverses her decision and apologizes to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community.

Hours after a report about the partnership prompted an online uproar from conservatives, State Farm announced that it was dropping its support of the GenderCool Project, aimed at helping raise awareness around what it means to be transgender, inclusive and nonbinary.

This is why I quit watching long ago…

Bill Maher suggests kids are coming out as trans is because it’s ‘trendy’ and being gay ‘is not hip enough’ anymore in monologue slamming LGBTQ supporters for ‘experimenting on children’ with hormone blockers and gender reassignment surgery.

Bill Maher

Maher, 66, who often draws ire of both conservatives and liberals on his show, largely went after the transgender part of that acronym in his editorial.

He began by noting the polls show the number of Americans identifying as LGBTQ has doubled with each passing generation.

Maher then asked if people are allowed to see those increases and ask: ‘What’s up with that?’
He then pivoted to a recent ACLU finding claimed abortion rights bans would affect LGBTQ people more than women.

‘Someone needs to say it – not everything’s about you. It’s okay to ask questions about something very new,’ Maher said.

Maher also cracked about the upcoming Pride parade in New York City not including gay men, but only trans people and lesbians.

He then suggested the number of people identifying as LGBTQ is ‘trendy’ because teenagers like to challenge ‘the squares who brought you up’.
