Children’s hospitals call on Biden to declare emergency in response to ‘unprecedented’ RSV surge
The Children’s Hospital Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics told the Biden administration that “unprecedented levels” of RSV combined with increasing flu circulation are pushing some hospitals to the breaking point.

Infants 6 months and younger are getting hospitalized with RSV at seven times the rate observed before the Covid-19 pandemic in 2018, according to CDC data.
Taking cold/flu meds but still feeling like death warmed over 🥵
I haven’t been steady most of the day , not sure if it’s my sinuses, ears or blood sugar but whatever the cause it’s really bothering me. I think I’m going to lay down and see if that helps. I don’t want to see a doctor if I can avoid it, (actually I don’t think I can afford it unless it’s really serious).
Hopefully some rest and sinus medicine will work.
Going to have to call tonight a wash. Due to unexpected tummy issues I’m not going to be able to write anything more than this.
Hoping to feel better tomorrow so I can share anything more interesting than this 😳
Doing better today though my thoughts are still a little muddled.
Well, today wasn’t one of my best. I had an issue with my blood pressure medication and had to pay extra attention to how I was feeling because if things went south I would need to get to ER. Fortunately, nothing untoward came of it beyond a low level headache which is finally going away. Hopefully things will be back to normal within a day or two.
VB variant: What we know about the new highly virulent HIV strain found in the Netherlands
A new highly virulent strain of HIV has been discovered in the Netherlands by researchers at Oxford University.
Scientists believe that what they call the ‘VB variant’ has been in circulation since the late 1980s.
Fortunately, they found that modern treatments are effective against the strain as individuals with the variant had similar immune system recovery and survival to individuals with other HIV variants and the research team stressed that the findings are no cause for alarm.
